KANSAS CITY FRANK: Frank Melrose was the piano-playing brother of the music-publishing talent-scouting Melrose Brothers Walter and Lester. Using the pseudonym KANSAS CITY FRANK, he was a close friend of Jelly-Roll Morton and was accepted into black jazz and blues circles, recording with Junie Cobb, Johnny Dodds and Herb Morand. He also recorded with white bandleaders such as Pete Daily, Bud Jacobson and Wingy Manone.
