January 25 Benny Golson: For our first Black History Month program, we’ll celebrate the 83rd birthday of saxophonist, composer, arranger and bandleader Benny Golson,by playing his recordings from 1959 to 1990.

February 1 Listen Before You Buy: Ron Sweetman reviews recent jazz and blues releases.

February 8 Black History Month A Musical Celebration: For our second Black History Month program, Co-Host Susan Galvin plays recordings of some of her favourite black jazz artists.

February 15 New Orleans Clarinets: In our third Black History Month program, and as a tribute to the ongoing Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans, Ron Sweetman plays recordings by the first two generations of black originators of this unique clarinet style, and a few of their white neighbours.

February 22 Coleman Hawkins: For our fourth Black History Month program, Co-Host Jim Reil features the recordings of Coleman Hawkins, “the man who invented jazz saxophone”.

February 29 Jazzcraft: In our fifth and final Black History Month program, we hear the 1978 and 1979 recordings made for the Danish Jazzcraft label by black bebop pioneers Benny Bailey, Teddy Edwards and Howard McGhee.
