December 14 December 14: Co-Host Ron Steeds provides us with a chronological survey of jazz and blues recordings recorded on December 14.
December 21 An Indo-Jazz Update: Co-Host Jim Reil will explore some recent fruits of a particularly fertile tree - jazz influenced by the music of India.
December 28 Best of 2011: Ron Sweetman plays from his ten favourite acquisitions in 2011.
January 4 Listen Before You Buy: Ron Sweetman plays recent jazz and blues releases, with an emphasis on guitars. Will include Ken Aldcroft,
Kevin Breit, Michael Jerome Browne, Fred Fried, Harry Manx,
Quintus McCormick, Monkey Junk, Mike Rood,Brad Shepik and Stickman.
January 11 Listen Before You Buy: Ron Sweetman plays recent jazz releases, with an emphasis on flutes and big bands. Will include Cecilia Coleman, Deep Blue Organ Trio, Carlos Franzetti, Knut Haugsoen, Mr. Ho, Mark Alban Lotz, Nicole Mitchell,Louis Moholo and Richard Nelson.
January 18 Jason Kao Hwang: We’ll follow the recording career of this brilliant Chinese-American violinist from 1980 to 2010, as a sideman and a leader. Other artists include Taylor Ho Bynum, Dominic Duval, Ken Filiano, Dom Minasi, William Parker and Tomas Ulrich.
January 25 Benny Golson: For our first Black History Month program, we’ll celebrate the 83rd birthday of saxophonist, composer, arranger and bandleader Benny Golson.

- Ron Sweetman has been an activist for jazz and blues since arriving in Canada in 1969. He was a founder member of L’Atelier de Musique Experimentale (1972), Jazz Ottawa (1976), and Music Now (1997). He has written for CODA magazine since 1970, and has been a member of the Down Beat International Critics Poll since 1982. He has hosted his weekly jazz and blues radio show “In A Mellow Tone” on CKCU-FM 93.1 since May 1976. In his spare time, Ron is a management consultant.
