PLAYLIST for SEPTEMBER 29, 2010

COMMITMENT: This pioneering Lower East Side group was made up of Will Connell Jr. [flute, alto sax, bass clarinet, wood flutes]; Jason Kao Hwang [violin, viola, bird calls]; William Parker [string bass]; and Zen Matsuura [drums]. They recorded an album in New York City in 1980 and taped a concert in 1983 in Germany. We’ll hear four cuts from each session.

We’ll also give you a sample of Renee Yoxon whose CD debut takes place on October
1st at the First Unitarian Church, the Chick Corea Trio who will be giving a concert at the Dominion Chalmers United Church on October 3rd, and the Matt Newton Trio who will be playing at Café Paradiso on October 5th.
