NOVEMBER/DECEMBER SCHEDULE & FUNDING DRIVE TARGETS

Dear Jazz Fan,

Please find below the NOVEMBER/DECEMBER schedule for IN A MELLOW TONE.

The schedule contains nine programs. The November 4 program is the traditional "first program of the month" review of recent jazz and blues releases, and on November 25 and December 2 we'll be playing more recent releases which might be suitable gifts for friends [or yourself]. Three great artists get a program all to themselves - Hoagy Carmichael on November 11, George Russell on November 18 and Jimmy Yancey on December 23. The Dutch Treat on December 9 will expose you to the diversity of styles currently being issued on Dutch labels, the December 16 program will feature Contemporary Big Bands, and we'll end the year with my pick of some of the best releases of 2009.

I'm sending this schedule out rather earlier than usual because the CKCU Annual Funding Drive started on Friday October 23, and runs until Sunday November 8. The target this year is $109,000. My two Funding Drive programs fall on October 28 [the Paramount label] and November 4 [Listen Before You Buy]. I am setting myself [and you] a target of $1,200 for each program, aiming for a grand total of $2,400. We achieved this last year, so there's no reason why we shouldn't achieve it again this year. You can pledge using our Pre-Pledge form sent to you, by going to our website [www.ckcufm.com], or by phoning us at 613-520-3920. You can pay by cheque, by cash or by credit card [Visa or MasterCard].

Those of us who volunteer at CKCU offer you our time, skills and ideas FIFTY-TWO times a year. We ask you, our audience, to assist us just ONCE each year. Your contribution is essential to keeping alternative music, independent current affairs and diverse community programming on the air at CKCU.

Thank you for anything you can do,

Ron.
